Here are some of the Carpet Questions you should be thinking about...

Ø     How long will my new carpet last?

Ø     How do I start my carpet shopping experience?

Ø     What should I do first?

Ø     Where can I buy carpet at near-wholesale prices?

Ø     What carpet stores should I avoid?

Ø     What is the Best Carpet for Kids?

Ø     What is the Best Carpets for Pets?

Ø     What is the Best Carpet for Basements?

Ø     What about pet odors and stains?

Ø     Is there a pet urine and stain product that really works?

Ø     What Carpet Cleaning Method is Best?

You can pick any dollar amount and find a carpet at that price, but that does not mean you will be happy with it. What is the average price of a carpet including installation? Some companies say the average price is from $15 to $20 per square yard (1.66 to $2.22 per sq. ft.). The REAL average price of a good medium-grade but durable carpet installed is from $20 to$ 30 per square yard ($2.22 to $3.33 per sq. ft.).

Does that mean you would be happy with the average priced carpet? Maybe – maybe not. It really depends on what you need. Every home has a different traffic pattern and usage level. Children: How many – how old, and do they eat in carpeted areas (of course they do)? Pets: How many – do they shed, scratch, or have accidents?

How about styling? Textured carpet, multi-colored carpet, or deep & rich solid colors, will absorb more abuse than light toned, solid color carpets. The shorter and more dense the pile, with a tightly twisted yarn = better appearance retention. That is the most general statement that actually means something. And yet most people would take a carpet like that in their hand and turn their nose up and say, “well another salesman showed me a carpet that was much thicker than this and it was less expensive!”

And guess what? Two or three years later the “thicker”, “less expensive” carpet is starting to look just a little bit shabby – oh well, “carpet” just doesn’t wear well, right? WRONG! If you invest in a good quality product, with good warranties, have it installed properly, and clean it properly and regularly – IT WILL LAST!!

You need to ask yourself these 4 important questions...

1. What style and grade of carpet should I select?

Not all carpets are created equal. Some carpets will last for 20 years, and some will wear out in less than 5 years.  They may even cost about the same. You need to know how to tell the difference between a well-made carpet and a poorly-made carpet. If you buy the wrong carpet you could be making a very costly mistake. .

2.     What Density and Thickness PADDING should I select?

Selecting the wrong PADDING can void your carpet warranty and cause your carpet to wear out fast. In an ocean of different PADDING options which pad should you select?

3.     How can I be sure my carpet is installed properly.

If installed IMPROPERLY your new Carpet could lose HALF of it's potential life span. The problem is...Good carpet installers charge the same amount as Bad carpet installers and it is hard to tell the difference between the two until it's too late. You need to know what questions to ask your installers BEFORE they begin installing your new carpet.

4.     How do I get a good price on new carpet, padding and installation?

Knowing where to buy carpet is just as important as where NOT to buy carpet. Being able to recognize a good price when you find it is very important too. The problem is, it's hard to tell the difference between a Good Deal and a sneaky retailer Carpet Scam. Don't be fooled, some carpets are just not worth buying no matter how much they cost. They may look and feel nice when they are new but they just don't last very long. You need to know which carpets are not worth buying and why. We can help you make sense of the acres of choices before you and help you quickly narrow down your choices to a smart few  that will work well for you and your family.
